Private tutor in Lawrence, KS
Education
Sophomore Mathematics Major with an emphasis on Curriculum and Teaching at University of Kansas. I am getting my degree in mathematics and my teaching certificate for secondary education mathematics through the UKanTeach program.
Experience
I have experience tutoring through the AAAC tutoring (the tutoring program here at KU) for college algebra, precalculus, and calculus 1. I can tutor calc 2 as well ( I haven't tutored it yet because I just took it last semester, however received an A) and am currently taking calc 3, differential equations, and linear algebra, so will not tutor that yet. Over the summer, I tutored a girl going into 2nd grade for math as well, but I do best with high school through college students I have also taken lots of teaching classes and received lots of training through the AAAC. I love to tutor. I love the feeling of finally understanding something in math when it was challenging, it makes math so fun. I love helping people reach that point of understanding it. It is the most rewarding job to be able to help others, especially for a subject I am so passionate about. In my tutor sessions, I like to challenge my tuttees but also encourage them and raise their confidence when it comes to math. A typical tutoring session with me looks like this: 1. review what we did last time. 2. learn current material, walk through and write down in an organized way step by step 3. practice current material 4.preview upcoming material. I review and preview because we learn best when being exposed to new material the second time. If I preview material with you, you will most likely understand what is going on better in upcoming classes. and when we go over it more, you will understand it even better! I do not preview in every single session, I use my judgement based on hpw much time we have and how much the tutee is understanding the current material.

Hobbies
I spend lots of time studying as it is required being a math major. When I am not doing school work, I am most likely at the gym to work out, working, or just hanging out with my friends. I am a very friendly person and get along with just about anyone. As of right now, I work a lot at my current job in retail. I hope to be able to make enough money tutoring to leave my job so I can have a job more related to my major and what I want to do in the future and not work as late as I have been lately.
