Experience
I attended the University of Kansas, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Sociology. I also graduated from Columbia University with a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Non-Fiction Writing. I worked for the latter university in their High School Prep Program, as well as for the Double Discovery Program. My specialties in tutoring are Sociology, Literature, and general English. Specifically, I am available to assist students with Reading, Writing, and Essay Editing, as well as with AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition. I have taught many forms of writing, including poetry, playwriting, fiction, nonfiction, and comic book writing. I believe that when students are having academic difficulties, a tutor can help them through the learning process by helping them not only to build their knowledge but also to help them become more self-confident. I am a very capable editor, and I believe it is very important to help students learn to build and establish their own voices within their writing. I have found I have great success with students who are on the timid side. In my personal life, I enjoy playing JRPGs and ice skating. I also like social/critical theory, cooking, and graphic novels.
